Birdie! The girl was between mates yet again. Whiskered lips curled up in distaste, a bit of a melodramatic glint flaring up in her eyes. Oh how she detested being single! The bitter taste of breakup was still thick on her tongue. But it had had to been done. He was just another male better off without her. It has been a great fling, yes, but he was looking for a commitment she didn't want to give. So she did what she did best; she cut her ties and ran.
Agile paws had carried her to her favorite post-breakup spot. The sandbar always picked up her mood. The sound of the ocean was soothing, the feel of sand and shallow water beneath her paws grounding. It was like she stood at the edge of the world, a single step the difference between drowning and taking flight. But that wasn't the only reason she liked to come here. The beauty of the sandbar attracted many a stray dog, and stray dogs attracted Birdie.
Currently she was trotting along, seemingly looking more innocent than she actually was. Every so often she would playfully pounce at a passing fish, splashing up water. It gave her an childlike appearance, something she knew some males went for. But in truth, her fishing was for larger prey. She liked it when they came to her, not the other way around, and right now she was waiting for one to get curious enough to make his way over here. If she was lucky, she would succeed.
